Busi Group - a leading Italian company in complete solutions for waste collection, compaction, and transport - strengthens its presence in Sardinia thanks to the recent contract with the company San Germano S.p.A. for the supply of OMB Technology vehicles for urban waste collection and vehicles with MEC roll-off set-ups used for waste management services in Selargius, a municipality of about 30,000 inhabitants in the metropolitan city of Cagliari.

THE CUSTOMER

San Germano S.p.A is part of the IREN group since 2019 and manages the waste collection, sweeping and collection centre management service in Emilia-Romagna, Liguria, Lombardy, Piedmont and Sardinia.  Since its acquisition by Iren Ambiente, it has become part of the Iren Group, one of the most important multi-utility companies on the Italian scene active in the sectors of environmental and technological services, electricity, gas, thermal energy for district heating, and management of integrated water services. 

THE NEED
San Germano won the tender called by the municipality of Selargius (around 30,000 inhabitants in the metropolitan city of Cagliari) and, as of 1 March 2023, took over from the previous supplier for waste management.
The new contract has a duration of five years and has been designed to better meet the needs of citizens and the characteristics of the territory, and includes a series of improvements to the collection service. San Germano therefore needed to increase and renew its fleet and, above all, to receive the new collection vehicles very quickly.
Another need was access to service centres for vehicle maintenance and overhaul.

THE SOLUTION
Thanks to its production strength and its large fleet of vehicles on ready delivery, Busigroup was able to deliver the supply in record time and allow the contract to start as planned.

The Busigroup supply for municipal waste collection consists (at the moment) of 13 vehicles, all new and equipped with the latest technology:

• 11 satellite vehicles with a tank with compaction system model T-REX with a capacity of 5mc and 7mc, ideal for door-to-door collection and initial compaction of waste.
• 3 vehicles with QUICK rear-loading monocoque compacting system with a capacity of 10mc ideal for supporting satellite vehicles in door-to-door collection in less densely populated areas
• 5 LEGEND E rear-loaded compactor vehicles with a capacity of 25mc and 29mc. LEGEND E vehicles are useful both as parent vehicles (when used in combination with satellite vehicles) and as direct collection vehicles.

In addition to the OMB Technology branded solutions, the Busi Group also delivered two vehicles equipped with roll-off equipment and MEC cranes and a MEC roll-off trailer for transporting waste with containers and roll-off compactors, which are particularly useful in the management of Collection Centres.

In addition, to provide San Germano customers with excellent after-sales service, the Busi Group has identified, trained and activated two new Service Centres near Selargius for vehicle maintenance or repair. The network of "+Busigroup Service" Authorised Service Centres is widespread and capillary and ensures all customers high standards of workmanship and the use of original spare parts.
